Spinal Injury Research
Spinal trauma research: experiments were performed using fresh cadaveric specimens to learn how neck and low back injuries occur.
Spinal injury experiments:
1st, non-injurious forces were applied to the human neck and low back and
responses were measured to provide better data for mathematical models for
automotive safety and crash dummy design.
2nd, injurious forces were applied to the human neck and low back, the forces
that produced injury were measured, and then diagnostic studies (x-rays, MRI,
dissection) were performed to relate the amount of force and type of force
applied to the resulting spinal injury patterns.
